Diet

omnivorous ,they eat insects, earthworms, crustaceans, frogs, water rats, turtles, large birds, and fish. 

Habitat

Mostly found in lowlands, coastal mangrove forests, wamp forests, freshwater wetlands, large forested rivers, lakes, and rice paddies.

Geographic Range

They are found throughout much of southern Asia, from India eastward.

Characteristics

Smooth-coated otters have short, soft, and smooth brown fur. They can easily be distinguished from other otter species by their rounded heads, hairless noses, and flattened tails. They also have webbed feet for swimming and sharp claws.
